Jewellery Tumbler

All jewellery makers use tumblers to polish, clean and even make jewellery but the type of tumbler used varies from jeweler to jeweler. Stone tumblers and rock tumblers are mostly used.

Jewellery tumbler is a machine or device that is used to shape and polish the jewellery as well as to clean the tarnish and smooth the rough surface of the jewellery pieces and roughly-cut stones.

Rock tumblers come in a wide range of styles including simple models to industrial models. Traditional rock tumblers work through rotation; however, vibration is used in advanced tumblers.

For smoothing jewellery articles the piece of jewellery is put into the tumbler from one side and smooth jewels come out from the other end. The tumbler fills the gap between the molecules of the metal by merging them into each other and thus smoothness is attained. When the gap is filled up the dust particles that have caused tarnishing are removed and jewels get their shine and loveliness back.

Some companies make rock tumblers which use ultrasound or vibration. Old rotating tumblers take longer to complete the process as compared to the vibration and ultrasound based tumblers. But these advanced tumblers are quite expensive than old tumblers. Rock tumblers can even tumble diamonds and crystals.

Stone tumblers, on the other hand, are used to polish rocks, stones and pebbles. A wide variety of stone tumblers are available including; a simple stone tumbler, double barrel stone tumbler, beech stone tumbler, double beech stone tumbler, triple beech stone tumbler and many others. The type of jewellery tumbler to buy is up to the jewellery makers who are purchasing it.
